Mama Duck

*Mama to three young adults – boy/girl twins about to graduate from college and my youngest, finishing her sophomore year at her university.

*I’ve been an adjunct professor for over 20 years, but my primary vocation is Mama to the three ducks. They are my favorite people and I miss them when they are not in the nest.

*Bible-believing Christian.

*Blogging About:Β Family-Life. Faith-Life. Mid-Life. Sharing-Life! Older posts tell the tales of being Mama to teenagers! Can’t say all of those moments were fun ones (wink). But, they gave me some interesting things to write about!

*Thank you for visiting my blog! I appreciate it very much! πŸ€—

  2. We have a lot in common and a lot not. The best – I’m a Christian for over 45 years and very active in my church. So thankful that God rescued me! My kids are grown, but college is in their past. Adjusting is constant. I miss being around them daily, but I’m so thankful they have found their adult lives! Nice to meet you!

    • Nice to meet you as well! I agree that the adjustment is constant. They come home for summer and holiday breaks, they leave again for school…it’s a strange time of parenting for sure! The important thing is that they continue to do what God has called them to do at this particular time in their lives. Thank you for visiting!

  3. I notice you clicked on my website, so I’m poking around in yours. This morning I took a photo of my ancient, but COMFORTABLE bathrobe. I may write a blog post about it.

Nice to meet you! I too am a Christian and former college professor.

    • Hello and it’s wonderful to meet you too! I love the title of your blog, as it reflects the interesting life you have had.
You should write about the robe! The post, You’re Middle Age When…resonated with so many readers, I couldn’t believe it! Nice to know I’m not alone :).
Thank you for stopping by my blog.

  4. After having read your article, I can only say, “wow!” You really know how to express yourself to others. It is like if you were writing your article on a plain white sheet of paper, using a “real ink pen,” with the ink still not dry on your final draft; that is the clarity and openness of your thoughts that goes into the things that you write. Please keep up your good work

  5. Hi, I commented on your recent post, and was led to a post you wrote from 2014 titled, ‘I didn’t want to leave church.’ I’m writing a post this week titled, A Full House, about how nice it was to have to search for a seat in the sanctuary on Sunday because God’s house was full. I’d like to use a quote from your 2014 post and leave a link after the quote to your post. It is really an excellent post and I agree with it. Church is restorative. Your quote I’d like to use:
“Church is not a social gathering for me. Sure, it provides fellowship, but more intimate relationships are experienced in small groups. Church service is restorative. After six days in the world, I need a reprieve from the depravity, the images, the diseases, disappointments, and this Babylonian culture.” Thanks so much for considering my request. Kathy

  15. Hi there. I am also a mom to three amazing kids…all boys, ages 10, 14, 16. Like you, I love the Lord, enjoy reading, and spending time with my family. (They are my favorite.) My husband is a part of the U.S. Army, and we are a proud military family, that also loves the privileges that come with being an American. I think you have a great blog. I can’t wait to see more.

  19. Hello newest Spikey! I know, a bit corny, eh, but that’s the term that has come to stick for those folk who are part of the clan known to be followers of Uncle Spike πŸ™‚

Thank you… I really appreciate that as I for one, know how many interesting and entertaining blogs are out there.

My aim is to deliver an eclectic offering of posts, from my β€˜point n shoot’ attempts at basic photography, to the sharing of my travel adventures over the decades, as well as day to day happenings here on the farm. Oh, plus a few observations on life as I see it, thrown in for good measure.

My promise to you is not to be overbearing, just a couple of posts a day, maybe 3 at weekends if I have something special to share. But if you are at a loose end one day, maybe you’ll enjoy trawling through some of my older stuff too. I have added plenty of categories to help in said digging process.

Thanks again and hope you have a great day…

I am also pleased to discover that you enjoy non-fiction because I just heard that my new book, targeted toward women’s bible studies and motivating women toward true health, is “Life’s Too Short to Eat Bad Cheese . . .” (nutritional and life lessons God teaches us) should be published around July. I should be making an initial announcement in a month or so. Please pray it is well received for God’s glory and not my own. Blessings,
