My daughter found a watermelon drink recipe when she was 9 and eliminated the “yucky” ingredients, added one of her own, creating this super-easy summer slushy. She’s been making this every summer since!
Ingredients:
5 cups of watermelon, cut into small pieces (see note below)
1 cup of orange juice (pulp free)
6 oz. can of frozen lemonade concentrate
Directions:
Lay watermelon pieces on a cookie sheet and freeze for about an hour. The melon does not need to be rock-hard. Combine the frozen watermelon, orange juice and lemonade concentrate in a blender and process until smooth. Pour slushy mix into cups and serve, or place cups in the freezer to save.
Note: If you have the patience to pull out the seeds, we have found that the consistency of seeded watermelon is slightly better for a slushy than the seedless watermelon. If you opt for seedless, it’s still refreshing & yummy!
